Random, Un-important Thoughts

IF THAT TITLE DOESN’T MAKE YOU WANT TO READ THIS THEN I DON’T KNOW WHAT WILL.

Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel

Here’s a pretty picture from the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel. We went when our family was in town and it was only slightly scary.

Because sometimes it’s easier to write out a bunch of random thoughts instead of trying to do what you’re supposed to do by writing out a well thought out essay, here are the things going on in my head. That was a really long sentence.

Anywhoodles…(you guys seem to like that word. I don’t even know where I got it from but I’ll keep using it. I just googled it and apparently some girl named Emily came up with it. Thanks Emily, I guess. MOVING ON.)

  • Thank goodness for Twitter. I’m pretty sure I’d have no friends without it. Jocelyn responded to my tweet pleading for friends asking for running buddies near me (THAT should be a part of Google maps) and connected me with a few more people. I seriously need more running friends – I miss the NYC running community so much. It’s lonely running over 10 miles alone!
Wah. I miss you guys.

Wah. I miss you guys.

  • Speaking of which…I signed up for the California Triathlon club. IT’S FREE. With free workouts. Their goal is to bring triathlon to everyone so the training sessions are open to anyone at no cost. I know I always say this, but I do want to start doing a few more tris now that I live somewhere where there’s one pretty much every weekend. My ultimate goal is another Ironman before I turn 31, which is in 2016. I know 31 isn’t really a “milestone” birthday, but 30 wasn’t happening so 31 it is. My first Ironman as a married lady. I WONDER HOW DIFFERENT IT WILL BE. And OMG I’ll be in a new age group. Life is crazy. Anyway, I was thinking about doing Ironman Lake Placid again but then Brendan was all, “you should try something new!” so we were looking for locations that would also be fun to vacation, and the only one that really worked was one of the Canada ones. So we’ll see. That seems like a whole big thing. I don’t even have a passport. (I KNOW, stop right there, I know what you’re gonna say.) And I don’t speak french or understand kilometers. That’s a lot of math that I can’t do in my head. I don’t even know if they speak french or use kilometers in this part of Canada. They do SOMEWHERE in Canada right? Or am I a huge idiot?
denville tri

My last tri, August 2014. And I only biked and ran so it doesn’t even count. I need to get a move on.

  • I biked to work once last week, which was a first for me.  Since someone ran a stop sign and hit my car and then the rental car was such a huge hassle, I ended up being stranded one afternoon with no way to get to work. Since I’d rather spend my disposable income (HAHA I HAVE NONE) on juice and wine instead of Uber, I biked. It was amazingly refreshing.

  • Our wedding invitations are DONE! Signed, sealed, delivered. I used Minted.com, if you’re wondering, and they were wonderful. It’s suddenly all going so fast and I’m sad because I don’t want engagement time to be over (it’s so fun!) but I also want our wedding day to be here, like NOW. Dilemmas.
  • I need structure. I have Mondays off work now and I’m always all “I’m gonna be so productive and get things done and wake up early and focus all day long blah blah blah” and in reality I end up reading emails without responding to them and binge watching Gossip Girl.  HELP.
Here I am, hating myself for being unable to drag myself out of unproductivity.

Here I am, hating myself for my unproductivity and also for not washing my hair.

  • I did Yasso 800s today. This deserves it’s own post (which will be coming shortly) but the short version: 10×800 is freaking hard.

I think that’s enough from my brain. Tell me…whatchu got goin’ on?!

Canadian here so I thought I’d chime in — Canada is a bilingual country but the only province that exclusively speaks French is Quebec. So if it’s the Mont Tremblant Ironman you’re interested in: yes, there will be some French. I live in New Brunswick, which is a bilingual province, so I speak both languages almost every day. Either way, we’d love to have you up here in the Great White North! And as for kilometres (yes, we spell it differently) most races also have mile markers to avoid confusion. Hope that helps!

Molly, thank you! This is so helpful. I’m glad I’m not just dumb, haha. It is Mont Tremblant I was looking at. Thank goodness they have mile markers, haha!

That’s pretty amazing you speak both languages every day. I always wanted to learn French, actually!

Maybe I’ll see you there next year! :)

    • February 27, 2015 / 9:19 pm

It’s about 7 miles each way, but B rescued me and took me home after because it was too dark, haha. MISS YOU THE MOST!!

    COME TO CANADA!!

Which ones are you looking at??

    • March 13, 2015 / 4:22 am

      Mont Tremblant and Whistler!

  7. March 2, 2015 / 5:14 pm

Wow!! another IM huh?! Awesome!! Being in CA You will probably do IM Canada (Whistler) or Challenge Penticton. Both are amazing races!! Let me know if you have any questions because I have done them both! Neither places you have to know french and they have kilometer/mile signs! You can also do Coeur d’Alene (Idaho)…I have done that one too!
You should be riding your bike all the time…you are in CA and have the best weather of anyone in the country!! :)
Can’t wait to hear more about the Yassos!

    • March 13, 2015 / 4:24 am

When I was researching Whistler I went right to your blog to re-read your training + recap :) Love it! Couer d’Alene sounds cool though too…I need to read that one! Is the water freezing? I feel like I read that somewhere.

I wish I had you to bike with! I never do it when I’m alone, I get too bored haha

I LOVE THAT PICTURE and wahhh miss you SO MUCH!!!!! I am so excited for your wedding and seeing your invitation in my kitchen every day makes me even more excited! I’m so excited you want to do another Ironman YOU AMAZING WOMAN! Also, we really need to get you a passport! I was a little concerned about running in Canada with the whole kilometer thing but then I realized it’s only a half and I’ve run a 5K, 10K, and 15K, so presumably I shouuuuuld be able to figure this one out but I would imagine an Ironman would be impossible to figure out haha!

    • March 13, 2015 / 4:25 am

I haven’t done it yet, don’t get too excited hahaha. But yes that’s true, I do know the 5K, 10K etc distances but still I’m not sure my mind would be functioning properly enough once we get higher than like a 15K haha.

Can’t wait to see you in June!!
